In the scheme of things, I guess you could say that I was a ‘late starter’ in Real Estate. The courage to make the leap of faith came when my diverse background and life experience had built my confidence, skills and abilities into a strong platform. Then time came when I realised that I needed a job which was non-ageist, not too physical and constantly challenging. I needed a job that was performance based, (where I was totally accountable for every part of the job - there's that control freak creeping in already ... ); where I could use my brains and creativity and I wanted to love what I was doing. I was already infatuated with the real estate market and the inner workings of the real estate industry ticked all the boxes, so I gained my qualifications, training with the REIQ. The enthusiasm of the trainers at the REIQ, a father-in-law in real estate and my own empathy with and passion for people, property and research combined with a work history spanning a variety of industries to cement the path to my new career. I'd already played at all levels (trainee through to management) so I had a pretty good all-rounder base to start from.
I sprinted out of the gates and sold nine properties in my first three months; two of them had been listed so long that the window cards had cobwebs on them! But my crowning achievement was selling a property for 196.25% above it's current market value. Residential listings at the time were selling around $400,000; wasn’t my vendor pleased when I sold the property for $785,000. One of my prized possessions is the lap rug she hand-crotchet for me (it’s beautiful and so cosy).
It has been noted that I have a tendency to call a spade, a spade (more like calling a backhoe, a backhoe); that I'm a raving perfectionist and a control freak. Generally, I smile in appreciation of such compliments; these character traits (flaws?) drive me to push harder and go that bit further to achieve my purpose. The additional research that I do for every client (buying or selling) ensures that decisions made are profitable and based on latest facts (that’s how I was able to sell that property SO far above market value; using my secret 'Julie' methods).
Things that rock my boat include real estate, people watching (you’re a fascinating bunch), psychology, philosophy, desktop publishing, new technology, working smarter – not harder, alternative medicine and health practices, research, study (pretty much anything) and learning new skills, reading, music (not that doof doof stuff), fishing, home improvements and DIY, woodwork (making furniture, frames and decorative boxes), craft work (carving Runes and making wind chimes), sewing, knitting and crotchet, experimental and gourmet cooking and baking, backgammon, card and dice games, taking control of the pool table at the local pub and beating all comers, having good times with friends and hanging with my husband and our cats. My first and only adventure outside of Australia was to Bali; but that was in my mis-spent youth, so we won't go there ......
Illness has meant that my work habits have been erratic over the past few years, but on the up-side, it did give me the opportunity to fine tune my skills, develop new abilities, write a book and study the real estate market (and industry) intensely. My principal goals and personal mission statement focus on :

My principal goals and personal mission statement focus on :
- using everything I know and everything at my disposal to be the best in my patch and to do the best for my clients
- to be a real estate agent that people know they can trust and rely on for professional, efficient service, total honesty (sometimes I can be a bit blunt, so don't say you weren't warned ... hahahaha) and a good laugh
- to provide accurate and up-to-date facts, information and advice which leads to positive outcomes
- to prove that not all real estate agents are the same (and thank goodness for that!) and
- to improve the reputation and standing of our industry in the eyes of the public overall, (even if I have to do it one person at a time) by demonstrating my personal values and ethics
When only the BEST will do, get in touch with me, any time.
